Knitting: LIR (lifted increase right)

In knitting, LIR stands for Lifted Increase Right — it’s a type of invisible or nearly invisible increase that adds one stitch without leaving a noticeable hole.

Lifted Increase Right (LIR) — also called Right Lifted Increase (RLI) — creates a new stitch by knitting into the right leg of the stitch below the next stitch on your left needle. It “lifts” that lower stitch up and twists it onto the needle before you knit it, making a subtle, tidy increase that leans slightly to the right.
